Job description

The Patent Group in the Seattle office of Davis Wright Tremaine is seeking a junior to mid-level patent attorney with at least two years of patent preparation and prosecution experience. An ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to work with clients of all sizes and in a variety of industries. A technical background in computer technology is required. Hands-on experience with a wide variety of clients (from startups to Fortune 500 companies) and also experience with a variety of technology areas such as mechanical devices, consumer products and designs is highly desirable. Technical experience with cloud computing, cryptography, information security, robotics or block chain would also be desirable.

Only candidates with a CS, or BSEE degree, physics degree, or equivalent experience that are admitted to practice before the USPTO as a patent attorney should apply.

The annualized salary range for this position in Washington is $185,000 to $350,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidates education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus and health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401(k), vacation, sick time, 10 paid holidays each year and an employee assistance program. For full-time employees, the initial sick leave benefit is 80 hours of sick leave per year. Attorneys generally take approximately three weeks of vacation from work each year, and it may vary depending on the needs of the clients and the firm. Additional voluntary benefits programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, voluntary critical illness and cancer insurance and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
